    Default US Army Colonel's medals

I just picked up this set of medals to a US Army Colonel. He was involved in WW1 (as a captain) and WW2, with service I "think" on the home front in AAF industrial planning division. This set was sold to me from a fellow who bought it recently from the family at an estate sale, and now I am privileged and honored to cherish and be caretaker of it in my own collection, and to share it here. There are a couple of other medals of his coming, a WW2 Victory Medal and an American Defense medal, which I will post to this thread when they arrive.

First, we have a Legion of Merit with the stunning WW2 type engraving, and wooden coffin case, with its original PQD box which I understand is very uncommon. The address has been blurred out in the image, in the interests of privacy.:

Thanks guys! I agree the LOM is a lovely design. For my tastes, I think it's the nicest looking US medal, with the exception of the medal of honor. I was really pleased to see how well taken care of this one has been.
