Thought shall be the harder , heart the keener,
Courage the greater as our strength faileth.
Here lies our leader ,in the dust of his greatness.
Who leaves him now , be damned forever.
We who are old now shall not leave this Battle,
But lie at his feet , in the dust with our leader

Hi.
You don't say what make it is or the condition, age etc so hard to find a solution to your problem. Sounds like a connection problem though so try the obvious first and make sure the lead from the coil to unit is tight. Check battery connections and if you are confident and the control box is accessible you might want to peer inside to see if anything is loose. Damp can play havoc with electronics and it is always best to store your detector indoors if possible. If the detector is a cherished or expensive model then there are firms that will repair it and they can be found in most detector magazines or online.
Regards, Mark.
