    Default Fisher 1266 Vs 1236-x2

Talking about military relic hunters, in my region the 1266 is pretty popular amongst the "old" diggers.
I do have a spare MD which I use for particular situations, and it's a Fisher 1236-x2. I am now thinking to swap it for a 1266. My question is: is it really more powerful than the machine I have now? which are the main differences, pros and cos of these 2 machines?
For the record, I do use a Teknetics T2 as first MD.
    thanks

the fisher 1266x uses dual discrimination where as the 1236x only uses single circuit discrimination. both are very good machines but the 1266x has the extra depth which can be even deeper if you use a 12" hothead coil or the coil from the old 1260x which is 12" and solid rather than the spider type that the 1266 uses ..the other advantage of the 1266x is the sensitivity dial which has a pull out and turn for extra depth or push in and turn for even more depth ..hope this helps darrel "-the metal detector" in cornwall

thanks darrel! and if we switch the match between 1266x and 1270? i see 1266 still has hardcore supporters but i hear good things about the 1270 too.

yes , i did buy a 1270 x on ebay .. how could he know such a thing lol ..
the 1270 has variable iron discrimination circuits as well as variable ground disc circuits a good machine but the control box is bigger than the 1266x
the 1266x is great in dry ground ...
if i can be of any help to any one feel free to pm me or post a thread..

Finally, after over one year I managed to put my hands on a 1266x. I am very pleased and happy! It will be the perfect spare machine and will flank my T2.
