It was "home made" scratched on thin Aluminium, battered and bent.

Like an idiot I didn't recover it from the shop, this and not buying a Ceramic F 1 Grenade ( from the same source) maybe the greatest crimes against The People's i have to date committed...

    Hello,
    Please look here https://www.warrelics.eu/forum/ussr-...znyj-znak.html

The ceramic grenade is a rare piece, I don't remember, probably I've show them here.

Comarade Viktor, I have just written about these tags on our UK Red Army living history forum this morning! I will copy my post here:

Hi Guys, this topic came up on the Soviet awards forum, and I thought it was interesting so I thought I would share the info here.

A metal tag was found ground dug in Russia. Some wondered if it was a dog tag? As we know dog tags per se were not worn. However, this disk was actually given to soldiers who were away from their unit and out of their military area for more than 12 hours.

Have a look at the illustration from the manual.

Introduced by People’s commissar of Defense order number №260 from December 21 1937 replacing model 1925. Abolished by order № 138 from March 15 1941. Restored back by Minister of Defense order number 29 from July 24 1946.

    Cheers, Ade.

This ID will be given to the soldier, when soldier has a vacation and go outside of the unit.
