The 16th Infantry Regiment was part of the 22 Infantry (Luftlande) Division, which makes this Erkennungsmarke rather interesting I think.
I got it locally this afternoon from a small militaria shop here in Melbourne.

That is a great erkennungsmarke. You are right about the unit being trained as Luftlandeeinheit. The Regiment was deployed in the vicinity of Rotterdam.

Very nice Bob. I once had a Waffenrock to a signals NCO in Nachrichten-Abteilung 22. Like a dope, I sold it.
