Could it be that due to the 'Sans Serif' font, which I seem to remember can be a bad sign(?), then it isn't an original example?

Hi Carl,

The use of sans-serif, all capitals is something that should always make one look closer, you're right, because a large percentage of fakes use letters like that, but in and of themselves they're not bad. There are originals with sans-serif letters, sometimes all capital ones too, but they're just not so common.

Well the problem I saw is that Armee-Korps are normally denoted with Roman numerals, not Arabic ones; so it ought to be XVIII AK, not 18. AK. Arabic numbers are used for Armeen, Divisionen, Regimenter/Abteilungen, and Kompanien/Batterien/Schwadronen, while Roman numerals are used for Bataillone (as a subunit of Regimenter- Erstaz-Bataillone used Arabic numbers), Armee-Korps, and Wehrkreise/Luftkreise. It's rather an easy way to spot a fake- if the wrong type of number is used- for example, there'd never be a 2. Bataillon in an Infanterie-Regiment.
