    Default FJ Rgt 9 Erkennungsmarke

    Hi all,

I picked this Erkennungsmarke up locally last night, and any comments re the history etc of this particular tag would be greatly appreciated.

FJ Regiment 9 was a part of the 3rd FJ Division, and this one is for the Panzerjaeger Kompanie. (14th Kompanie), they were pretty well wiped
out during the Ardennes battles of 1944 from what I have been able to glean.

The tag has lightly scratched into the back of the tag '3Div' '14 Komp' and the number '52243', the scratched inscriptions are hard to read,
so I have enhanced the photos slightly to better read the back portion.

    Thanks for looking,

    Cheers

As an added bit of interest, here is an original Major Friedrich Alpers signature on a Gold Recce clasp awarded to Leutnant Erich Schweizer of 2.(F)/ 22.
(I have another couple of documents to this group of awards as well, but with other signatures).

Alpers was captured by US forces in 1944, and committed suicide in captivity, he was also a member of the SS.
