This is ID tag coming from Reichsarbeitsdienst (State Labor Service).

M 287 = Meldeamt 287 - Registration Office 287, unfortunately, this Meldeamt cannot be found at the lists I have.
RAD 9/214 = RAD 9 (Abteilung)/ 214 (Gruppe) - 9th company/ 214th RAD battalion
393 - worker's number

It wasn't a soldier- as I mentioned, these were labourers doing their national service, usually before entering the military.

I come from Mönchengladbach. Where did you found that EKM?

i found this here in belgium in the city overpelt . i found it in the forrest and i know that during ww2 in this forrest a german work camp was sitting so . thanks for the information and the ekm has a friend of me now so i need to ask on him if he wants to sell it .
