The gates of hell were opened and we accepted the invitation to enter" 26/880 Lance Sgt, Edward Dyke. 26th Bn Northumberland Fusiliers , ( 3rd Tyneside Irish )

Thought shall be the harder , heart the keener,
Courage the greater as our strength faileth.
Here lies our leader ,in the dust of his greatness.
Who leaves him now , be damned forever.
We who are old now shall not leave this Battle,
But lie at his feet , in the dust with our leader

Re: help decoding SS dog tag
Unfortunately we can't really help without a clear picture- it needn't necessarily be large, just focused; perhaps take a shot from further back or steadied using the edge of a table or something? The form of the letters is what is used to authenticate a disc like this.
Ohhhhh- pillage then burn...

Re: help decoding SS dog tag
still waiting for a camera.i have soaked tag for two days in molasses which gradually removes the rust,i have wiped the surface with silver paint and highlighted the stampings with graphite,i would be very surprised if it was a replica as came from a top notch english dealer.
