Well if you mean badge as in Panzer or Infantry Assault, etc. then I'm not the guy to ask and there is a specific forum for those where there will be experts who can help- I just do Erkennungsmarken

Hi, I just thought I'd reply with a pic of a genuine tag ( shame it's in two bits) that I found with my detector on the site of an old pow camp. It'll give an idea of what real aging looks like. I don't know what the numbers are but at least it's real.

Hi Andy, welcome to the forum!

Very nice find! It is a Luftwaffe aircrew or FJ tag.

    Cheers, Ade.

Yeah, that's a nice one- a bit rough, but being 1./ Fallschirmjäger-Regiment 1 kind of makes up for the condition issues I figure

Cheers guys, I'm fascinated, how can you tell just from those numbers which outfit it's from? I heard there was some kind of list but I never could find it. Awesome forum by the way.

I have a list but it's not mine to give out- I recall hearing it's printed in Jean Höidal's second edition book on Erkennungsmarken...

Junk. This unit is faked lots and so far as I've ever read, there are no discs marked like this. Note the 'halo' around some of the letters- especially visible on the bottom half- this is an indicator of an old, perhaps original blank that's been stamped more recently; the force of the strike has flaked off some of the patina. Also 'Fall.' is not a normal abbreviation for 'Fallschirm' and the Umlaut is missing over the 'A' in 'JAG'- not unheard of as a slip, but usually more idicative of a fake.
