    Hi all

I've been asked to help with the attached tag. It still needs a bit of a clean up but it would be nice to get some initial opinions. It was found on an old POW camp in America, along with a fair few pebble buttons. I presume the 'B' is the blood group and the bottom right mark the 'company'.

Any other info would be great

    Cheers

Yeah, I was having the same problem Paul. Hopefully he will send me a picture soon once it has been cleaned up. Amazing to think it was found in the USA

Me either- it may not be a typical military unit though; in the lower right area it appears to read 'KP 50' which is very strange since a typical Regiment had at most 15 Kompanien. The 'B' is definitely the blood group and the 131 is the Stammrollennummer.

Better picture of the tag, cleaned up.

It says KP30 which is still unusual. Is the rest clear enough to make out now ?

It's definitely Grenzschütz-Abschnitt, but notice one tricky thing- the marking is actually 'GZ. SGHZ.' so it would seem this unit was missing it's 'C' and they had to use a 'G' instead; that would mean the second half that appears to be 'NGHR' is actually the infintiely more understandable 'NCHR' for Nachrichten- so what you have there is Grenzschütz-Abschnitts-Nachrichten-Kompanie 30. Unfortunately I have little information- it's simply listed as having gone to form one of the Kompanien of Korps-Nachrichten-Abteilung 437:

    Korps-Nachrichten-Abteilung 437

    1. Aufstellung:

    * 1.4.1940 im WK XII zu 2 Kompanien; die 1. aus der Grenzschutz-Abschnitts-Nachrichten-
    Kompanie 30
aus Krems/Donau; 1.6.1942 verstärkt durch eine 3. Kompanie; November 1944
    umbenannt in Korps-Nachrichten-Abteilung 482.

    2. Unterstellung:

Höheres Kommando XXXVII; 25. 5.1942 LXXXII. Armeekorps: Niederlande, Nordfrankreich, Saar

    3. Ersatz:

    17 Wien, WK XVII

    Versorgungseinheiten 437 = Höh.Kommando XXXVII; 25.5.1942 LXXXII. Armeekorps
