Help With Unit Info?

Im struggling trying to find what exact unit this is. Can anyone help?

I am not an Erkennungsmarke collector, but I do know German unit designation format.

Normally that would read 2nd Rifle field replacement Company (2.) 1st Battalion (I) of the 22nd Regiment.

I am not 100% sure but I think it is the 2. Schützen Feld Ersatz Kompanie, from Feld-Ersatz-Bataillon 22 wich was part of the 22. Infanterie Division.

I would be inclined to agree. The part that is throwing me off is the "I". Roman numerals were used in Heer nomenclature to designate the Battalion within a Regiment.

However, as you pointed out, the field replacement Abteilung of each division was battalion sized. So, the "I" is superfluous if we are talking about a battalion sized unit to begin with.

Yes Todd, you are right about the roman I. I overlooked it and will do another search on this unit.

I have been looking around and can not find the answer I'm looking for. I know I was wrong about the unit being from the 22. Infanterie Division because the Schützen Regiments were part of the Panzertruppen.
