That awesome! It's crazy you can still find this stuff on the ground. The fact it's SS is a super plus! Thanks for sharing.

The ID-tag was not found on the ground.
It was found inside the big dressing station (type 118) at the airfield.
...here is a small video of the dressing station at "Flugplatz Rom" (Lemvig, Denmark)....Dänemark Rom Lemvig Hospitalsbunker - YouTube
The bunker measures 22,2m x 12,8m, and has 2 floors.
Here is a link to "The Atlanticwall in Denmark"..The Atlantic Wall in Denmark...
...on this page you can see all the different types of bunkers build in Denmark - this page is on English.

Weird- the marking really isn't typical at all; there are no 'Offizier-Bewerber-Ausbildungs-Regiment's listed anywhere- there were a couple of Luftwaffen-Offizier-Ausbildungs-Bataillone though so I guess it's not completely odd. Normally SS units have 'SS' as part of their official main unit title though (e.g. SS-Panzerjäger-Abteilung 1), so I'd have expected this should have been SS-Offizier-Bewerber-Ausbildungs-Regiment; and it's even more odd to have that SS be designating a platoon, and one of Hungarian volunteers. But if it was legitimately found in an old German Hospitalsbunker, and since it sure looks like it's been exposed to hot and cold cycles for a long time to create those cracks, the marking must be just a very odd one, for a unit that's either lost or otherwise not recorded by Tessin. Very interesting!
Ohhhhh- pillage then burn...

There is very good explanation to the Hungarian connection regarding this ID-tag.
During ww2 there were 12000 - 15000 Hungarian soldiers in Denmark in German war service.
These were stationed all over Denmark, but most of them near the Danish westcoast.
The Hungarian soldiers also where at "Flugplatz Rom".
They had their own camp in the southwest corner of the flugplatz.
After the war the "Hungariancamp" were used as a refugee camp for German civilians.
My house is only 40 kilometers from "Flugplatz Rom", it is still a small airfield today.
The airfield is located in a big forrest.
During ww2 the Germans made a shooting range at the airfield - still being used today.
...I shoot there almost every week - really nice place and great history.

Hi,
Just a little update.
The correct text is:
9. Batt. Offiziers-Bewerber-Ausbildungs Regiment
SS-Zögling ungarisch
In January 1945 there were 162 SS-Zöglinge at Luftwaffe in Denmark - according to BAMA Freiburg.

That's 9. Kompanie, not 9. Bataillon (presumably); Bataillone, as subunits of a Regiment, were indicated with Roman numerals, I., II., etc.; an Arabic number indicates a Kompanie, Batterie, etc.
But oh, the Z is Zögling- that explains why it's not SS-Offiziers-Bewerber-Ausbildungs-Regiment, because it wasn't- it was indeed just Offizier-Bewerber-Ausbuidungs-Regiment and SS men were trained there as well- very interesting!
