Another from the collection but let’s see if you guys can figure out why this one is a little unusual.

Was the unit part of the Cologne (Koln) garrison in 1945?

Yes it was, but that isn’t where it was found nor the reason why it is unusual.

Ok I'll put you all out of your misery. The reason why it is unusual is the size. This one is only 6 cm across instead of the more usual 7 cm for Heer/SS and LW ekm. This one may have been an un-officlal field made copy although it has been stamped rather than engraved. The owner did survive the war (going back to a time when WaSt were able to reply to enquiries having sent this one to them they returned it once they had deciphered the data and checked their lists).
