a beginning collector has this one in his collection and whould like to have some more information about it

hope you can help me out and make him happy

the number on the tag is

KRIEGSMARINE
78874/44k

My knowledge is quite limited on tags, but I believe the first number is the marine number and the 44 is the date, tracing it would be nigh on impossible.

thanks a lot what could be the meaning of that K at the end
i dont own this id tag but what i can say is it looks like it is made from a different material then brass [more aluminium looking]

in front of 78874 you dont see any letter?

i jused foto shop to adjust the lighting a bit
but cant be shure of the letter
