Re: Luftwaffe Sanitäts Ersatz Kompanie 6
Hi Stacez.
I cant give much help about the unit, but cant help to ask.
Do you know why there is no "rollnumber" on the tag.
Maybe on the back?
Best regards
Laplander

The soldier's number is on the back side.

Re: Luftwaffe Sanitäts Ersatz Kompanie 6
It may be unlikely you'll find anything specific about this unit as a Kompanie is not usually a standalone type, but a subset of a larger unit- in the Heer, for example, there were various forms of Infanterie specialist Erstaz Kompanien (e.g., Infanterie-Pionier-Erstaz-Kompanie), which appear on discs, but they were not lone units one could ever look up- they were divisions of the Infanterie-Ersatz-Regiment of the same number and that is the only unit for which information exists specifically.
I would think that judging by the system for other Lw units, Lw. San. Ers. Kp. 6 was in Luftgau VI (not exactly a breakthrough ) and that perhaps it was associated with Luftwaffe-Feld-Division 6, but that's as far as any usual source takes it; there is no listing for it specifically, nor any indication, like some Heer units, that it was redesignated early on to something else more recognizable (there were a number of Sanitäts-Ersatz-Kompanen that became Erstaz-Abteilungen, which can be researched).
I noticed in searching around that you've asked this question on quite a lot of different fora so I hope that if someplace someone has some obscure reference that gives you anything, you'll share it here too
Ohhhhh- pillage then burn...

Today I have learned that my grandfather was a member of the Luftwaffen-Sanitäts-Ersatz-Kompanie 6. They were situated in Gremmendurf in November 1940. On 8 April 1945 my grandfather died in Fischhausen/Samland which is close to Kaliningrad (Königsberg) by a bomb splinter.
Have you been able to find out any more information about the Luftwaffen-Sanitäts-Ersatz-Kompanie 6? I'd very interested in any information.

Hi LisaB,
LW Sanitats Ersatz Kompanie 6 came under the command of Luftgau 6, hence the association on the tag. Luftgau 6's area includes Munster and Gremmendurf, the place where your grandfather was.

Hello meskalin, how are you? I'm quite busy right now due to taking care of my little son (18 months old) So, I have less time on other hobbies, including ID tags identifications. Best regards!
