I would not be afraid to own it depending on how it looked in person.

In German Infantry / Schutzen Regiments the 14th Kompanie was usually a Panzerjager Kompanie !

Paul, would you say that this speaks positively for the authenticity of the disc? I've gotten pretty much convinced that it's good myself --- at the very least I cannot seem to point to any specific trait that would point in any other direction...
The book I was referring to earlier is a 3 volume set, I may get it as I think the story of the 4th SS Polizei Division is very interesting...
-
I received the tag a while back and it looks 100% in person --- Also, going by the info I found myself and what was provided on here I now have a good overview of the story of this unit and the life of the soldier that once carried it. Thanks for all your help!

Why would it have to have the SS runes if it's a tag from before the Polizei Schutzen Regiment 1 came under the SS?
-
Because the 14th Company did not exist before this was an SS unit. The tag had to be made after the unit became part of the SS, or it is not an SS unit.
-
Ok, this is certainly news to me... where did you find this info?

The 14th Company was added when the regiment reorganized in 1943, the above was the basic organization from 1940 to 1942 it was converted to SS:
On 10 July 1940, the division was transferred as an occupation force in the St Dizier (France) and on 2 August 1940 the French military training camp Suippes. Here, the division was renamed and reclassified to the SS Police Division.
