    Hello Stacez.

Thank you for helping me interpreting the id-tags.
    Are you collecting erkennungsmarken?
I like to take the opportunity and say: Welcome to the forum!

You can find the existing unit information here: Lexikon der Wehrmacht

For field units (Infanterie-Regiment, Nachrichten-Abteilung, Artillerie-Abteilung, etc.) you just have to choose the right type from the list (note: Panzers and motorized units like Panzergrenadiers are under 'Schnelle Truppen'); for Ersatz units (Infanterie-Ersatz-Bataillon, Artillerie-Ersatz-Abteilung, etc.) look in the 'Ersatztruppenteile' section and from there choose the type (Artillerie, Infanterie, etc.)

If you don't read German, Google Translator or any other online translation system should help a lot since most of the text is fairly simple.

    Hi Matt L.
Thanks for checking out my latest thread.
That link is very helpful, I have used it a number of times.
My first language is swedish and it has many connections with the german language, but many englishspeaking people say that swedish sounds a bit less rough to listen to.

So Matt L, you like this last group of erkennungsmarken?

    Best regards

    Hello to everybody,
Sorry I haven't said hello with my first post but I was a little bit in a hurry Laplander, answering your question - I don't collect Erkennugsmarken but I'm interested in.

Oh sure Laplander, they all look fine to me

Glad to hear too you know about the LdW site- it's extremely useful and highly recommended for those who don't know of it. It doesn't go into the nature or associations of units so much- for that one needs a good knowledge of the organization and Order of Battle structure of the Wehrmacht, which is another matter altogether- studying Erkennungsmarken is actually a whole lot more complicated than it might seem and certainly moreso than most other collecting areas...
