SS Danmark ID tag

Hello,

I've found SS Danmark ID tag ( 8.SS.P.G.R. 23 DANMARK ) in Latvia ( Courland pocket ) which belonged to 11. SS-Freiwilligen-Panzergrenadier-Division Nordland. Division has 3 units: SS-Grenadier-Regt. 23 „Norge“, SS-Grenadier-Regt. 24 „Danmark“ and the SS-Pz. Abt. 11 „Hermann von Salza“. So, the question is... How to understant that on the ID tag written 23 Danmark , but by the information sources it shoould be Danmark 24? Mistake of printing?

Odd shape too, perhaps a field made re-issue?

This is identical to a tag we found in Estonia in the Danish SS Positions with the same markings from the same 8 Kompanie so it would suggest that whoever stamped the tags for this Kompanie got the Regimental number wrong , strange but true it seems !!

By the way, in Latvian war relics forum, another guy found ID tag of the same SS Danmark unit (11.ss.P.G.R. 23 DANMARK. STAB. -009.-). And the same Danmark 23. Mistake of stammping again?

In the missing documents over Rgt Danmark. there is about 3-4 other with the same 8.SS pz gren Rgt 23 Danmark. The 3-4 soldiers all came from Romania, so i guess that the owner of this tag also was from Romania.

So, we continue the search in area where was located "11. SS-Freiwilligen-Panzergrenadier-Division Nordland". And we found another ID tag of "Danmark". Fantastic feeling
