Re: Ss geb. Jeg. Rgt. 6
No SS Geb Jag Rgt 6 , only SS Geb Div 6 " Nord "

Thought shall be the harder , heart the keener,
Courage the greater as our strength faileth.
Here lies our leader ,in the dust of his greatness.
Who leaves him now , be damned forever.
We who are old now shall not leave this Battle,
But lie at his feet , in the dust with our leader

Re: Ss geb. Jeg. Rgt. 6
I know that Nord is the 6th Div. , however there are different Rgts within the Divisions . I am hoping this is legit!

Re: Ss geb. Jeg. Rgt. 6
I just found direct ref. to a 6th and 7th Waffen SS rgts.
"After the Norwegian Campaign and the surrender of Norway, Adolf Hitler did not want units of the Wehrmacht (regular army) to guard the new border between occupied Norway and the Soviet Union so he decided to send units of the SS-Totenkopfverbände (SS-Death's Head Units) formed from concentration camp guards.[1]
The first unit to assemble in Kirkenes, was the SS Battalion Reitz, named after their commander Obersturmbannführer Wilhelm Reitz. The SS 9th "Totenkopf" Regiment, led by Obersturmbannführer Ernst Deutsch soon followed.[1]
They were joined in the Spring of 1941, by the SS 6th and 7th Regiments and moved into positions at Salla in Northern Finland. The formation was well equipped but barely trained, and the commanding General Nikolaus von Falkenhorst did not trust their fighting ability.[1] "

Re: Ss geb. Jeg. Rgt. 6
That's correct but it would appear from the orbat that they were SS Infanterie Regt 6 and 7 not Gebirgsjaeger Regiments which originally fought as part of the Nord Kampfgruppe at Salla !!
Nord didn't become a Gebirgs Div until September 1942 when the units were desiganted as SS GebirgsJaeger Regiments 11 and 12.
