This might be a fake. I see the SS, which has been pretty common on fakes to try to "raise the value". I'm not an expert though. Comparing this to the one I have, they look very different. Just my two cents.

I have about a dozen SS ID discs, and all of them have different runic or SS symbols on them. I own three SS-TK ID discs, and the runes are different on each disc. I'm 100% positive that two of those discs are originals. I agree with you about the high number of SS ID discs that are postwar fakes.

It's definitely real- the 'B' is a very distinctive shape and occurs only on these discs; I had one in my collection once (since sold).
@Blitzkrieg Bop: that's actually a good thing- discs from different units should not look the same and if they do have the same letters, etc., that's when it's time to think fake...
Ohhhhh- pillage then burn...
