Ss-tje btl i erkennungsmarke-id disc

I'm a new member to this forum. I would like to show a ID disc from my small collection. The zinc disc shows corrosion, but it can be easily read. The info on the disc has been colored, so that it would show up in pic. The disc reads: 2./SS-TJE BTL I; the obverse reads: 1235 w/blood group 0. I would appreciate any opinions concerning this disc.

This might be a fake. I see the SS, which has been pretty common on fakes to try to "raise the value". I'm not an expert though. Comparing this to the one I have, they look very different. Just my two cents.

I have about a dozen SS ID discs, and all of them have different runic or SS symbols on them. I own three SS-TK ID discs, and the runes are different on each disc. I'm 100% positive that two of those discs are originals. I agree with you about the high number of SS ID discs that are postwar fakes.

It's definitely real- the 'B' is a very distinctive shape and occurs only on these discs; I had one in my collection once (since sold).

@Blitzkrieg Bop: that's actually a good thing- discs from different units should not look the same and if they do have the same letters, etc., that's when it's time to think fake...
