    Possibly- zinc is a common material for discs and tags in general; the other would be aluminum, but I don't know if it was used for POW tags or not. Zinc especially can have many different appearances, depending on the microenvironments of the particular soil in which it's buried, half-buried or whatever the case may be.
    Ohhhhh- pillage then burn...
