Col. Harvey Weir Cook, Heroism that Spanned Two World Wars

Steven & to all,

Thank you so much for adding our Col. Cook to this site for more people to see & learn. This is why we did what we did & worked for 10 yrs. at the Weir Cook Terminal, out at the Indianapolis Airport so people won't forget him. All that you have seen is real and there to help educate children & adults who have never heard about Col. Cook. Cook was a great soldier who fought with the top brass to get back into the conflict in WWII. We believe he deserves to be remembered. We have more coming too...we are raising the funds to build a bronze statue & a replica of his "Lighting" Spad XIII to be place out at the airport for the public. If you like to follow along we are on face book "weir cook fan club". This is a place where people can find out what were doing next. After this final phase we will be finding another hero to honor.

PS. Cooks carved stone is not at the new terminal yet. We will be bringing it back over as soon as funds are raised.

Fantastic tribute to Col. Cook. These early heros need to be brought to the forefront so we don't forget the sacrifice they made for their country and for aviation in general.

I am looking forward to seeing the SPAD! You folks did a great job of preserving his name. I know it was disappointing to not have the airport named after him, but at least you were able to remember him with the terminal. Much better than what has happened in Fort Wayne with the loss of Paul Baer's name. (Fort Wayne International? Give me a break!)

Were you able to obtain any other items from the Manion's sale? There were several items from various early Hoosier aviators such as Cook, Kephart, Everett Cook, and Oliver Stout.
