Default Flying helments - Please help with identification

Greetings all - I am new to this forum and would appreciate any help in identifying these three items I bid on in Cape Town yesterday.
One is a leather helmet with built in earphones and the other is a khaki coloured material. The compass has a leather pouch but the leather is very brittle. Markings on the compass are F-L , No.75828, 1917.
    Kind regards
    Alf Boyley

Hi Alf - Welcome to the Forum.

Second helmet is a RAF 'Type-C' and the tan one is RAF tropical,
    but the type escapes me..........
    Regards,

    Steve.

Yes, both are WWII - but the type 'C' was produced rather
late in the late war and used post-war as well.........
    Regards,

    Steve.

The tropical helmet is a D-Type. It is nice to see the neck flap as these are quite often cut off, it's a shame that the ear cups have perished, however, you can find replacements.

Having done a bit of internet research it appears that the D-Type helmet is in fact the rarer Fleet Air Arm (FAA) variant!

Grime box, actually known as a 'P' helmet. The c has modern jack plug on it and both have well perished receiver covers, making them lower grade near relic items. the other item is a personal compass for map reading and isn't aviation related.
