Default RAF Wickenby WW2 bomber airfield

Visited RAF Wickenby WW2 bomber airfield in Lincolnshire last week. I used to take flying lessons here when I was 19 years old and haven't been back since !

The once run down control tower has now been fully restored and is a museum to the Squadrons that served there. There is a nice little café inside too!

Over 1000 boys lost their lives flying from here.

    Thumbs up

Thanks for posting - it's nice to see that the RAF mug I donated to them a while back seems to be on display.....

Looks like a nice little museum. I must add it to my 'to be visited' list.

Wickenby is a very interesting place - anyone going there should read Jack Currie's justifiably famous memoir 'Lancaster Target'. His crew flew from here and reading the book really does fire the imagination when you visit.......
