Another one of Spotted Cow, or 'Spotted Dick' to the locals (I should perhaps add that that 'Spotted Dick' was/is a traditional English pudding, studded with dried fruit... )

Sorry to pull this out of the past but I missed this one the first time around. My uncle Joe was a tail gunner with the 384th BG, 545th BS. I have seen many pic's of the spotted cow. Like what was mentioned this was a assembly AC stripped of weapons. All aircraft formed up on it and when everybody was up the Cow would land and the rest would fly their mission.
Very Cool. I love the 384th information!. Someday I would like to visit Grafton Underwood. I know there isn't much left except the local churches stained glass window which was donated to the church by the men of the 384th and a monument erected by the locals to honor those men. But I still would like to see the village where my uncle would of drank during his off time.
