Combat services and hanger/nut?

Look at shape ends of the slit in the hanger. Your medal has different shape, which is not very consistent with the press cutting process.
The other parts differ too.
The nut letters (especially two “O”) are also different.
All this is IMHO.

I definitely have respect for your opinion! This helps a great deal for my further investigation. I had questions about parts of it too.....and thanks for the pointers!

The 'O' here is yet different than any above?

The odd part is the nut is most convincing and that worries me!
I'll have to go back through my guards badge nuts.......

Indeed.....thanks for the clarification. The D is the most easy to seperate but look at post #8.
Does that mean the one on post #8 is fake too? it has a different shaped D
Do they cast these fakes or stamp them????

I am not really sharp at all these hardware issues.
So I cannot really insist what is fake and what is not.
About the nut (this one and from post 8), it doesn’t have ro be fake. It might be just from another medal or badge.

What shape is the line over “Й» on your nut?
Straight or curved?

You guys are going into unknown territory for me and I feel this is a thread where we all can learn a lot from once final conclusions have been made.
I started to check the writing on the nuts and so far my own originals and the other originals that I've come across online all have a straight line above the Й. I am not certain that a curved line is not good and would love to see more info on this. I do feel that a straight line is one of the features of a good one though!
