In my opinion it is a fake.

- The sailors cap tally's (ends are cut in a V shape) indicate it is a type 1 medal, as far as I know the type 1 then should not have a rim on the obverse, this medal does.

-Lack of detail in the soldier and sailor, I think I see cast pock marks at the sailors ear and his shirt stripes look a mess.

-If the detail is lacking due to wear over time, I would also expect to see more wear around the edge of the medal and the words. With this medal the edge and words look fairly crisp compared to the soldier and sailor.

Maybe some other members can lend their thoughts.
