    Hi Guys

I've just picked up a 'Defence of Sevastopol' medal and due to their rarity, I just wanted to check with you lot as to whether you think its genuine. I have a good feeling about it and I'm confident you will respond positively.

In terms of hands on feel, the thing is definitely old. You can tell there is age to it and a bit of wear.

Also on the third picture the writing looks to be really faint but in person it is as clear as the writing on the left side (shown in the second picture). My camera refused to get the clarity right despite multiple attempts.

Let me know what you think and I thank you in advance for any replies
    Cheers
    Tom

Alas, I could not recognize these guys' faces. The medal is too worn...
Sorry but the general impression is all that remained here.

It does not look original to me. See The Soviet Military Awards Page. Medals, History and Russia! , then scroll down and look at the pictures. You will see a distinct difference.
The details on this one look very weak.

Does not have the detailing, I would say a poor sand cast fake, with a crudley attached ring

    Hi,
    Your medal flatness, poor molding.
    Regards.

I have less problem with the ring than the almost complete lack of detail. Heavy wear is one thing but it doesn't explain a lot of what is missing.
Waste of a nice two-piece suspension.

Roger9344, you’re not right. You suggest to compare with another variant, as shown at link presented by you. Do you know that Sevastopol’s T1 has 7-8 different dies’ types?

Moshemotom, you should have something like this. Can you place only the one orthogonal, large, sharp picture with sidelight (left-side) and no flash? No need to show us the suspension and etc.

Here what frightens me most of all. I do not see the sailors stripped vest, but it has a very deep relief and remains even on strongly worn medals.
