Can't comment on whether it is original or not, but an iconic medal to a titanic battle. Hopefully one of our Russian friends will be able to assist.
Looks like an original first version medal. Can you also show the suspension in full, front and back? It looks as if it still has the original suspension but that is very, very hard to say from just these pics.
On Ebay there are lots and lots of originals, for very fair prices. Just make sure you learn the differences between the different versions. With that the regular fakes often can be detected from a distance already. Only the very good fakes are harder to identify.

Also. Did pay about 40 euro, so guess its abit on the high end. But still a must have medal. How can you tell its a first version?
The connecting ring says a lot already. My advice to study the different versions of these medals on the following site. Even though it is in Russian the images speak for themself plus google translate can help you going.
