Isn't the suspension postwar? I read that only the silver suspension with just a pin (also known as type 1 suspension) was used during the war, and then this brass one was used early postwar. Is this true?
Imo this one is a late wartime or early postwar replacement. The connecting ring has been opened and closed again. Happened a lot. These pins of the back of suspensions broke easily so I imagine the awardee replaced the double sided suspension wih this late war/early postwar single brass suspension. Very common to see.
