Article about: I have only just begun to collect Russian WWII. I have this Guard badge that I hope is WWII. Why do some have fringe on the flags? Mine does not. Bob Hritz

    Hi Meyerse,

there are various NKPS nuts, you can show a reproduction ?

    Thanks

Here it is on the back of a COPY sniper badge.
Yes, it is very close to an original nut, but I think the one in post #74 is this same as this nut and is a reproduction.
I'll take some pictures of original ones I have of this type, there are several versions.

Here are three versions of this nut by this maker that are originals.
They look very close to the reproduction above but are not the same,
while the reproduction above matches the one in post #74 in all details.
A correct nut adds a lot of value so it appears to me that someone added a reproduction nut to the guards badge in post #74 to bring up the value.
This is not the only reproduction style nut now either...there are very good ones that can easily fool being made...

Well done yes it is possible, the badge is a good NKPS factory and I have just a few in reserve so it's not really a problem .

    Those are fantastic......
And I'm not 100% sure on the repro nut ( agree badge itself is great), but they match from what I can tell at the slight angle, can you take a picture of the nut in #74 straight on?
And thank you so much for sharing your collection.

You are right 100% fake, you can clearly see the traces of casting .

The details of your nut look cast, the letters, etc? However I found one I know is coin stamped from this maker of a version I've not yet see faked that has similar but far less pronounced lines on it, but defiantly not the look of casting in other details. so I'm not sure those lines are definitive based on that? The repro I showed above doesn't have the lines and is coin stamped.

I'm not convinced they are the same nut. The only one I know is fake is the sniper repro....and with your straight on shot, I can now see definite very subtle differences between your nut and the repro with the sniper badge....easy tell, the fake has 48 marks around the rim, yours has 53. I think the repro might be trying to MIMIC your nut? I"m less convinced than ever yours has any issue and it most certainly isn't the same nut in the sniper repro....very interesting and thanks again for sharing I think it might be legit!
