Interesting that other medal ribbons dont suffer the same effect though

Others should indeed also fade but it is only the Belgrade medal. Furthermore, when seeing un-issued ribbons out of the box they also come in both shades of green. And one would expect that in a dark box, out of any direct influence ribbons should not fade yet still these come in both shades.
