"In all my years as a soldier, I have never seen men fight so hard." - SS Obergruppenfuhrer Wilhelm Bittrich - Arnhem
Very nice medal -
I see that your ribbon has the blue stripe to the left of the red stripe, but I have been told that ribbon should have the blue stripe to the right of the red stripe, does anyone know which side is accurate or does it matter?
Blue should be right of red indeed but it happened that ribbons were put on the wrong way.
I think it even more likely that the Kiev ribbon would be found the wrong way around as it was issued so long after the war ( easy to change round though). I was lucky enough to find one for my collection back in 1989 in Berlin just before the wall came down and even now it still looks the odd one out because of the shiny modern finish.
Nice example and essential to the set

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. A man who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing he cares more about than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature with no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."
The medal is published under the leadership of Nikita Khrushchev.
Joseph Stalin has always refused his main argument is that the city has fallen far too fast
Thanks a lot for the explanation. Sounds like Stalin indeed hahaha
