Hereby my latest addition, a nicely worn Order of Glory 3rd class numbered 180424 awarded to Pavel Fedorovich Tutayev, scout of the 103rd Separate Reconnaissance Company of the 123rd Luga Order of Lenin Rifle Division.
Pavel is born in 1925 and joined the Red Army in January 1943. He fought on the Leningrad front since February 1944, and on the 2nd Baltic Front since the 25th of August 1944.
Apart from the Order of Glory 3rd class Pavel was also awarded the Bravery medal on the 31st of August 1944.
The citation for being awarded the Order of Glory 3rd class:
"Enilsted man Tutayev was a member of a reconnaissance group sent for capturing a German “tongue” on 20 of October 1944.
Acting in the 255th Rifle Regiment area, the reconnaissance group approached the German front line and discovered a position of 5 German soldiers with MG. Senior Sergeant Gerashenko threw a hand grenade and killed two of them. Another one tried to escape but was killed by Tutayev. The other two were captured and delivered to headquarters where they gave valuable information.
Scout Tutayev acted bravely during this combat mission.
For the successfully completing of the combat mission of capturing an enemy "tongue" enlisted man Pavel Fedorovich Tutayev is worthy to be awarded the Order of Glory 3rd class".
