Hi guys, This badge, like most of my collection was brought back by my Dad when he returned from the war in 45. Most all being German, this is the only russian item I have. I believe it is a cap badge? But heres the question...what kind of cap did it come from? I included a ruler in the photo for reference in size. Any help here is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance........ Regards, Edwin

This is M 35 cap star, mostly used on the visorhats. We had a lot of threads about that in the past. German soldier likes this stars to have as a trophee from Eastern front

The GIs were crazy about these also... After the Elbe meeting and well into the late forties, they traded bits of their insignia, cigarettes, lighters, & etc for these. I even have a letter from a GI to his brother - in it he tells about how many times he tried to meet up with a Soviet soldier to trade for his "red star", but the former never met up with him...

They are pretty nifty, and of high quality.

I own about one hundred of these 1936 types, really. Eighty percent-plus of them draw their provenance from GIs...
