Re: Russian cap badge
This is M 35 cap star, mostly used on the visorhats. We had a lot of threads about that in the past. German soldier likes this stars to have as a trophee from Eastern front

Re: Russian cap badge
The GIs were crazy about these also... After the Elbe meeting and well into the late forties, they traded bits of their insignia, cigarettes, lighters, & etc for these. I even have a letter from a GI to his brother - in it he tells about how many times he tried to meet up with a Soviet soldier to trade for his "red star", but the former never met up with him...
They are pretty nifty, and of high quality.
I own about one hundred of these 1936 types, really. Eighty percent-plus of them draw their provenance from GIs...
Non nobis, Domine, non nobis, sed nomini tuo da gloriam!
