Re: Soviet Guards badge
Circa 60-70's made brass sample with re-added pin, used from the same era Master class badge( normally they are M,1,2 or 3 shields, where the number/letter shown - is a class of a specialist)

Hello all!
I picked this one up in a flea market in Berlin, and would like to know a little bit more about it.
After some research I learned that my version is post-war, but that there are different eras in which it was manufactured. Also, it looks like someone has attached a pin to the back of the badge, seeing as there's nothing on Guard pin badges online from what I've seen.
Adjusted by the wearer probably after the epoxy failed and the screw broke off. Or maybe just to make wearing easier as the long screwposts would poke into one's chest as well as twist off-center. The pin did less twisting and less poking as well as leave small holes in one's uniform.
Nice example of a field-worn badge. I have one with a huge, ugly blob of lead solder and a homemade pin.

Re: Soviet Guards badge
Thank you all for the information!
That kind of personal modification is not what I expected, very cool.
