Thought shall be the harder , heart the keener,
Courage the greater as our strength faileth.
Here lies our leader ,in the dust of his greatness.
Who leaves him now , be damned forever.
We who are old now shall not leave this Battle,
But lie at his feet , in the dust with our leader
House Carles at the Battle of Hastings
I'm located in a village called Vara.
Vara was certainly in the 1944 combat zone during the Tartu fighting !!

These might not be the best pictures but i hope you get the idea.It was raining so i had to make it quick.I will try to make better ones and upload them once i'm home.Internet is pretty slow and i can't do much. But still, i can't figure out whether the white ring is concrete or metal.I'll try to figure it out and also i'll take exact measures of that shell.
Well the reference I have shows most if not all WWII German 15cm HE shells had 2 driving bands, so it would seem they're ruled out; there was a 15,2cm shell listed for the Russian KH433/1 and /2 guns that has the same details as this shell: a clearly-defined bourrelet, a small shoulder above the driving band, one driving band, and so on- perhaps it's Russian then.
Ohhhhh- pillage then burn...
It looks unfired to me due to the lack of markings on the driving band. Probably de-armed some time ago and left behind.
Thanks
Burt
I cleaned that white ring and it turned out to be like copper.I'll post pictures tomorrow and the length is 54 cm and I'm not so sure if width is 15 or 15,2 cm.
Edit:
Actually, my uncle brought us a router so i can post now .I also took pictures of that helmet.

you are correct, the driving band would be made of copper.
And I agree, as there are no marks on the driving band it looks like it has never been fired.
Nice find
If you look at the 3rd picture then you might see a couple of "cuts" on it.There were some pieces missing on that section but the rest of the driving band was intact. It doesn't clearly show how large it is but i will make extra picture for it and post it tomorrow as it is pitch dark outside
I'd say it's a russian O-530 A, with top and fuze missing.
These were shot by the 152 mm M1943 Howitser.
