PS I've sorted the thread title for you.
Hi Eric,
Was going off the base inscription " 3" dummy cartridge " which lead me to think US 76mm M1 Anti-Tank gun round.
There's a dummy 76mm on this link
An Introduction to Collecting Artillery Shells
Cheers mate

Indeed it does. Hadn't looked at the base stamp. Surely if it says '3'' practice round' then that is what it is ? If it was 76mm it would say so, or 105mm for that matter. The base stamps were always very specific !
Can you take another picture of the base so we can see all the markings ?

Eric, that is fantastic, looks really great in the kitchen.
Cheers.

Sorry Steve I guess i live in a world where I tend to convert imp. measurements to metric (my old boilmaking days). 1 inch=25.4mm so my 76mm (76.2)
Could also be a M5 3' AT gun round.
Sorry for any confusion.
Cheers
Dave
Not to be argumentive, but if you accurately measure the projectile I think you will find it is 75mm or 76.2mm as already mentioned. It does have 3" marked on the base. Pete.
