depends what finish you are looking for, sandpaper is too harsh IMO, its always going to be a relic, electrolysis could be an option,
Yep forget sandpaper the electrolysis will bring it back very well.
I did a 2" mortar fin as an experiment and it turned out as if it had been manufactured yesterday it was dated 1942. There is scads of info on the net how to do it.
Superfine steel wool and WD-40 work well , and it doesn't harm blueing if it has any.
Another vote for electrolysis. It's VERY simple, and can be done with some basic items. The results will be better than sand paper, steel wool or any scrubbing media. Very nice grenade launcher attachment!
Pat
Ch and the Wa140 say it was made by FN in Belgium.
What method did you use to clean it?

Electrolysis. The blueing is gone because i scrubbed it to with too hard with the towels after ive taken it out. Found out later that it doesnt have chemical blueing but rather the anti rust blueing. Since i mostly work with relic helmet, i thought that the "black" was the same "black" that appears on helmets when in acid for too long. Anyway, im happy with the results.
Looks great
