7.92mm Mauser rounds + Cardboard box

A new recent purchase. A Pre ww2 German Cardboard box with paper label for holding 15 7.92mm Ball mauser rifle rounds.

Nothing too interesting here to discuss. So i will skip to the markings.

13 of the rounds have the markings of
P25 - Manufacturer- Metallwarenfabrik Treuenbrietzen GmbH
1938 - Year made
5 - Batch number
S* - a variant of the original S case made of 72% copper, that was standardised between WW1 and 2
Green tracer colour

2 of the rounds were mixed in here and are different
p413 - Manufacturer- “DWM” Deutsche Waffen- und Muntionsfabriken
1939 - Year made
And a red tracer colour.

The box however is 1937 dated with a manufacturer stamp of E.F.W . I dont know the maker. Please note it is not EFW from the 1940 onwards three letter codes.

I threw in one photo comparing the 7.92mm .303 and 9mm rounds. To give size-reference.

Overall a nice little addition to the ammo shelf! Enjoy.

I second the above. These boxes of ammunition are a nice way to feather displays of combat gear. They display especially well alongside the corresponding weapon.

A nice addition to your collection,the primer annulus colours red and green do not indicate tracer colours,red is AP and green is standard ball.Tracer ammo would have a black bullet tip and a variety of primer colours,so a black tip with red primer would be AP tracer and so on.......Pete.

Great box of ammo,
I so regret shooting the "Surplus" ammo I used for plinking back in the 80's. Now its collectable. All I have now are empty shells and a couple of floaters in the bottom of my ammo cans..

I always find it interesting how much period live ammo got to America. I remember seeing fellow member UK cousin a while back post his stash of Period German Mauser rounds that could be fired.

What Gun were you firing them from? Just out of curiosity.

An MG42 is definitely a good list item.....I'd send Santa a feldpost letter so he knows what you want this year!
