Does anybody know what these are please?

Article about: G'Day everyone. I found 3 of these solid metal 'darts' stashed in a 1942 iodine ampoule box. Can anybody identify them please? cheers sid

    Hello-they look like flechette dart anti personnel rounds that are packed into larger artillery shells for tanks, field guns etc for close range (relatively) use in breaking up mass infantry attacks-can't say what shell for what specific gun though.

    They do look a bit like flechette's but I think they may be something else.

    Could they be representations of aerial bombs from a model aircraft ?

    Flechettes are normally much more pointed and dart like.

    Thanks everybody to help id these 'lazy dogs'.
    My nasty little buggers appear to be of the forged steel type,(top left on the wikipedia page).
    ...going back to read the rest!

    These are nasty little buggers. Imagine a couple hundred raining down on your position.

    Amazing-I had never heard of these before-very nasty indeed although no more so than napalm or HE shrapnel. I believe the first air to ground weapon used in WW1 were somewhat similar steel darts thrown over the side by the French.
