Just thought id post this pic in case no one has come across it yet. Few diagrams on the 25mmx163 French Hotchkiss AA cannon round. It seems the only serious users of this weapon and its ammo were the Japanese Navy (and Army). The Germans did use small numbers of the captured French guns in WW2 and even produced their own ammunition. The German manufactured rounds are stamped with the 2.5CM designation on the headstamping. Regards, Tim.

I have this one in the collection which I am trying to identify.
I think it it is a 25mm Hotchkiss.
It is shown next to a German 20mm round for size comparison.
AGK - on the tip - and some other small unreadable markings are all I can find - the dimensions seem to fit.

If it is a Hotchkiss round, anyone here able to determine whether it's of Japanese or French origin?

It looks like a little red paint left on the screw, although that part is not painted on the other posters pic - the small indent pattern could be half an anchor like the one on the headstamp in the other pic - but, I do not know enough about this stuff.

(I did not "Brasso" it - or bugger the screw head - all as obtained, I don't polish anything, lol.)

This little trademark, too - photographed through a magnifying glass, lol.

So, it is a French Hotchkiss anti-tank round?

(Mine is rimless, like the Jap, the pics of the French 1934 At version all seem to have a rim - but I am using a search engine not a scientific method )

    Thank you, Lebus,
