I've had this casing in my little collection for a while, always believing that it belonged to a FLAK 88, but somehow the casing seemed too long... Because a FLAK 88 shell was 88 × 571 mm, and mine is around 850mm long.

So it could belong to the PAK 43, but why is it marked FLAK 41? 40mm is for scale.

It also has a Waffenambt stamp which is hard to see on the picture, could it's code be any help?

That's a nice one; you just need to trust the marking- it is a cartridge from an 8,8cm Flak 41 gun As you can see in the article, very few were produced compared to the usual 8,8cm Flak 18/36.

Wow, i feel stupid for missing that small piece of text... Thanks for the info! So i reckon that these are not very common casings?

Nope, not common at all. I've seen a few, but nowhere near as many of the 18/36 and 43 types. But that being said, they're not nearly so sought after for the same reason- people want the classic '88' and the big 43 because it was a Panzer/ Panzerjäger gun; the Flak 41 is an oddball.
