Hello new to the forum can any forum member tell me if this ( deact ) grenade is British or American.
The grenade is dated 1946 with the letters M G A on the other side of the top.
Although the date puts the grenade after the war I presume that the same type was used during the conflict.

I am quite sure this is a WWI French model 'F1', which were used into WWII.
The date stamping you see may simply be a batch or lot number.
The US Army designed their 'MKI' after this grenade for WWI, which did not
see use there in great quantities due to a complicated and confusing,
potentially dangerous fuse design.
