This a model 24 grenade but I saw the same type with the same lettering type,on a repro site not so long ago...
An original would have a a double lenght cord with a porcelain ball on it and at the end a lead ball which is part of the ignitor.

the date on the top parts is 1939 and on the wood part 1943 that dose not look right to me

That's correct Klinger, a 1943 model would have the ignitor on top of the grenade...found one a few weeks ago in the Ardennes('43 model)

    Smell the handle !!!!
The handles on these well known copies normally smell of Briwax.
I think these initially were produced for the Band of Brothers and such various WW2 TV/Film series ... and because of popularity, the production was kept on.

I've seen them priced anywhere between £20 and £40 GBP's.

It is a fake. The important give away is the 'RR'. The first 'R' on originals was backwards. Also the eagle is very stylised.

Saying it is a fake is not totally a bad thing so long as you only paid £20-40 for it. As fakes go, the quality is VERY good. I have 2 myself that I bought knowing they were fakes. However, the price I paid reflected this fact.

Your grenade has the same code as one of mine by the way, yet mine is a Nb.Hgr.39

Nice 'nade......but not 'authentic'. Nice though

The porcelain pull 'donut' is also clearly wrong- it's much too thick; the real ones had a more-or-less circular cross section. Of course as Steve mentioned, the 'R' facing the wrong way is the most damning evidence that this is a reproduction.
    Ohhhhh- pillage then burn...
