Help in this mortar shell

Hello dear collectors, today i just bought this mortar shell.

This shell don't have any marking on it. And after a bit of research, i found out this shell is a british 2 inch smoke bursting mortar bomb.

But what confused me, there's a fuze in top of this shell.
So i need help in identifying further about this mortar shell and from what period this shell is made.

Anyway i just found out this shell can be deattached from it's wooden pedestal

There's an extra steel pole on the rear area of this shell. And it's covering one of the vent hole.
So anyone know this mortar shell, please?

I have some suspicions about this round.

In the first instance, the round does bare some similarities to the British 2 Inch type.
.. BUT, looking at the fuse/detonator, I have the feeling there may be more to it.

Possibly ... a Japanese improvised mortar round !!!!

After close inspection on the fuze head, i found this

Is this the remain of marking? I also put some estimation about what the original marking looks like. Is that the remain of a kanji? or an alphabet "B"?
