Article about: Hi guys My wifes auntie deals in antique trading and was wondering if you guys would be able to ID this ammo tin for me, as if its WW2 I will have it off her . Also any idea what it would be

    My wifes auntie deals in antique trading and was wondering if you guys would be able to ID this ammo tin for me, as if its WW2 I will have it off her . Also any idea what it would be worth £???

    It's an Maxim ammo box, captured and put in use by Finns. SA=Suomen Armeija (Finnish Army)

    I'm sorry, it's not Maxim, but for M-27 Degtjarev. They aren't that valuable, you can find them pretty easy in Finland I think.

    i didnt think it was Maxim due to the ribbed bits inside, Maxim tins seem to be completely empty.

    is it still WW2?

    My bad, sorry. I think it was captured during WW2, but I'm not completely sure that did we also get these later. Finns got over 9000 Degtarjev's during the Winter and Continuation War

    so is that a early version of the DP28?? I thought it would be something like that due to the unusual ribs inside

    It was also called DP-27, most likely because it was designed in 1927, but put into use in 1928. The ribs inside are to hold the circular magazines in place.
