Id of 30mm and 20mm casings.

Hi,

A friend of mine has the two polished casings - a 30mm and a 20mm.
...I found a identical 20mm casing in my collection - the one with the belt piece.

There are no markings on the 20mm.
The 30mm is marked J30mm.RG75.

Can anyone tell what weapons they are for?
...any info on the casings are appreciated.

The 30mm could well be a 30mm ADEN round. RG75 could be Radway Green 1975.

This looks like your 20mm..............20x102mm Cartridges

Agreed. The 30mm is for the Aden and the stampings mean it is a "J" type case (the last service type) made at Radway Green in 1975. If it was ever loaded the loading details will be found stamped on the belt, but as I can see no neck crimps it may never have been loaded.

The other two 20mm cases look like standard 20x102 as Pete says.

The ADEN 30 cannon sounds very likely - the aircraft Saab Draken where used in the Danish Air Force.

The 30mm casing has been used - it has crimp marks on the neck and has been hit by a firing pin.

The 30mm is more ikely to have been fired by a British Aircraft if it is marked RG,Could easy have been a Hunter,a Jaguar or a lightning.It was the standard ADEN Cannon round and your 20mm rounds are 20x102 as used in the M61 series Cannon.Both were fired electricaly and the mark on the case is from the firing cap pushing back against the pin upon firing.

The caps on 30mm ADEN ammo is electrically fired rather than a percussion firing pin.
