The owner should get rid of thing contraption. All ordnance should be treated as live unless you know for a fact it was deactivated at some point. Properly that is! Many "UXO's" unfortunately still have detonators or primers intact. We actually had a few threads on this by now. Only the main charges have been removed in many cases.

Found this on the web if it helps... nasty little thing if its still live... link: Days of Glory: Luftwaffe bombs

The type used in the Battle of Britain was the tiny B1El, a 1kg bomblet known as the brandbombe, 1kg Elektron, hence B1El. The consisted of a cylinder of Magnesium Alloy (Elektron), with an incendiary filling of Thermite. These weapons, which burnt with a heat sufficient to melt steel, were ignited by a small percussion charge in the nose which fired on impact.
In an attempt to make these weapons even more effective, and to defeat the fire-fighters efforts, the Germans introduced explosive charges into the nose or tail of some incendiary bombs.
The charge was initiated either by the heat of combustion, or by a more complicated device that incorporated a delay of about 7 minutes. The various versions of this bomb included the letter Z in their designation, indicating explosive charge. Thus the standard B1El incendiary bomb fitted with an explosive charge detonated by heat was designated B1EL ZA, and that detonated by a delay B1El ZB.

all i know is that once thermite starts burning nothing puts it out not even water because it produces its own oxygen

Impossible to tell from the photos if it's deactivated but many were picked up by 'shrapnel collectors' ( ie schoolboys ) during WWII. They're unlikely to go off without serious mishandling but, as has been correctly pointed out above, they can be full of very nasty stuff which you really wouldn't want around the house !

If you really want one, deacts frequently turn up at aerojumbles ( on deacts the nose usually unscrews quite easily revealing an empty interior ) and generally sell for around £40.
